How to sleep through the winter (hibernate) by Alice and Martin Provensen
Today I found this little gem of a children’s book at a thrift store and upon a quick look through it’s clear that this is one of the best dollars I’ve ever spent. Entirely drawn with the cartoon modern sensibilities that I absolutely adore this book is chock full of beautiful illustrations accompanied by text as well as a few comics scattered throughout. By all indications it looks to be the first edition, too, which is surprising given it’s general good condition that it was published in 1952.
You can see more of it over here, if you like - http://goldengems.blogspot.ca/2009/04/coming-soon.html

Apparently the giant veggies shown at the Alaska State Fair are delivered to hungry critters at the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center when the Fair closes. These bears are fond of cabbages…

I’m afraid of the dark. Newest addition to Grin & Bear It.

I regret not picking up this zine in Chicago. I wish I could turn into a bear sometimes. Most times.
